THE FIERY KNIGHT - Reidar Nilsson

The stage is set - Fjaltring, Denmark, the North Sea. Against this cold, forbidding backdrop, Reidar Nilsson lights the fire of drama, of energy and dance. In founding the Tukak' Theatre School, the first professional theatre school for indigenous people, Nilsson nurtures the Inuit in their struggle to preserve their cultural traditions, and to perform for international audiences.

A long-time collector of native artefacts, this Norwegian-born painter/actor/director has always had an ear for the primal beat of the native pulse. In addition to his dance, music and performance lectures, his innovative acting workshops have been held around the world. Reidar has thoughtfully coached thousands in their quest to reunite with their dancer spirits, to celebrate and revere their inner rhythms.

A dramatist at the heart of life's drama itself, Reidar is portrayed forever mid-stride, his wings brazenly aloft - provoking the extraordinary energies that lie within ordinary people.

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings did he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?

- William Blake
