MODERN MUSKETEER - Yurah Kilkevitch

Filmmaker, visionary and businessman, Yurah Kilkevitch is a central figure in Moscow's creative and dramatic life. As president of Joint Venture Moscow, he assumed responsibility for representing great Russian talents, including the world famous Moscow Circus. Immediately captivated by the concept of having Russian Arkangels tour Russia, he played an integral role in making preparations, both political and practical, for their visit.

Kilkevitch taught himself to draw as a child, as a means of amusing himself through a year of confinement with polio. He remained true to his early artistic inclinations throughout his adult life, demonstrating advanced skill in canvas and oil.

Formally trained at the Moscow Academy of Fine Arts, he pursued a career in film making. He added to the fame of the Three Musketeers, creating a movie that was set 20 years in the future, which met with great success in Eastern Europe.

His sculpted image is one of quiet, understated repose, reflecting the exterior calm that cleverly disguises an egocentric brilliance lying quietly in wait for the next seemingly insurmountable opportunity.

"Bring me my bow of burning gold;
Bring me my arrows of desire;
Bring me my spears, O clouds unfold;
Bring me my chariot of fire."

-- William Blake
